The Great    Experiment

FAILED

About 233 years ago people got together and set out on what has been called "The Great Experiment". This was an experiment in government and society. The concept was, we, the people, the society, no longer needed a "king" to rule over us. That no longer would the lineage of despots control men's lives on virtually all levels. Man could work and get ahead, breaking through the caste system's "glass ceiling" and the common man could also be one of the wealthy, the "elite" so to speak.

People could achieve the heights of their dreams, all they needed was the freedom to do so. Freedom and opportunity to own land and property.  Freedom from heavy taxation, which robbed them of the ability to get ahead financially and within the fabric of society. Freedom from oppression by a corrupt monarchy government. The idea was simple, we would choose our leaders, restraining them with legal chains, binding their power over the citizens.

But, and it's a big one, the only drawback was the need for self reliance, self responsibility, in essence, "self governance". The only way it could or would work is if the individuals governedthemselves. This meant respecting the rights of others and expecting the same in return. Of course there are always those who cannot do so, and as a result we have laws to deal with those individuals. In this great experiment were some very simple rights which came from mankind's Creator, these being boiled down to life, liberty (freedom) and the pursuit of happiness (property i.e. own your own home, yard, etc). These seem fairly basic today, but due to a failed educational system, no one is aware of what brought about the Great Experiment in self rule. People were subject to the whims of the monarch du jour. If you spoke inappropriately, you could be jailed or even executed. If the monarchy so decided, your lands and property could be taken away at any time. A person's status in the society was virtually unchangeable as only those who gained favor of the monarch could be elevated. This usually only came from those families which already had "connections" inside the government.

This brings us to today, as we look to vote on a new "leader" for the United States every four years. Herein arises the lack of education in both knowledge and understanding of the Great Experiment and the American government. Just the concept of "the leader" of the United States shows how far we've come from the original concept, how far our country and society has deteriorated, corroded and corrupted. No longer are we looking for someone to preside over the national government, but someone to "lead" us as if we're lemmings waiting to wander off the cliff into the abyss of all the other failed nations.

This regretfully seems to be the case. A problem I suppose would be the role and job of the President of the United States was designed around a particular person. No two people are alike, and so, the job can never be filled in the manner intended. George Washington was that individual, a man of very high integrity and moral standards, a man of great humility. Have we seen anyone since? Not really. Even some of America's greats like Jefferson, Adams et al, all came up short on those qualities necessary for the position. Another failure comes from the Federally controlled educational system for not having taught the foundations of this country.  It has become to jaded by modern politics and opinions, focusing on identity ideologies.

Today we have people who the American public knows full well are liars, thieves, corrupt, villainous, fraudulent and even treasonous. We know they are only out for themselves and are beholding to only those who fund them, their power sold to the highest bidder. People vote for or against a face, a skin color, a gender, no more looking for qualifications, but for classifications. If the American public only understood where this all came from, there would be a lot of politicians out of office and dare I say in prison. And yet the people are so blinded, deluded, "conned" they will still vote for these people. Not once will the people demand someone of true integrity; as if someone in politics actually knew the word, let alone had it. It is astounding how the American voter will completely, totally ignore the history of an individual solely because they may get something in return. The American voter is as much a whore as the people they are electing; sold out and to the one whom they can get the most from. Are people so blinded by their own self worth?!  I suppose so. How stupid people can be.  As Shakespeare said in "A Mid Summer's Night's Dream": "Lord what fools these mortals be".

Once again we are subjected to a corrupt government which can take our property, even our lives at will. Oh yeah there may be a call for due process of "law" but the laws are written by the corrupted government. The Great Experiment was supposed to have the government protect us and at the same time leave us, the people, alone to go about our own business, our own individual lives.

The mindset now is the voters are looking for a singular individual to solve all their problems; a  "messiah" of secular origin. Someone whom they can turn to, to be cared for and coddled.  A person to "level the playing field". (Hint here, there is no such thing as a level playing field. The moment someone else steps in to manipulate it, the playing field is tilted in another direction, not leveled.) This desire for a messiah figure is inherent in the human condition. We are programmed to look for such a person. Is this just a coincidence?  I think not.

In the Bible, during the time of the Prophets, the Israelites had a government where the Prophets would receive their istructions and wisdom from God and when that happened pass it on to the people. They did not rule over the people. The people ruled over themselves, there were local judges and groups of elders which administered the laws, settled disputes and such, but essentially the people ruled themselves according to God's Commands or Instructions (Torah).

The top of the government was the family unit itself. (Though the Priests were the heads of the country, they were generally not directly involved with the people's day to day lives.) The people however saw how other "nations" or "peoples" had rulers, "kings". Thus the Israelites asked and even demanded of God through the prophets that they too should have a ruler, their own "king".

As the story goes, the Prophet Samuel went before God and apologized, telling God of how the people had rejected him (Samuel) as their "leader". God's response was to inform Samuel to not be saddened or ashamed as the people had not rejected him, but had in actuality rejected God as their ruler, their King. By demanding an earthly king they had rejected God as the ultimate Divine Monarch from whom they received their instructions, their design of society, their legal and financial systems. God told Samuel to go to the people and tell them, their request will be granted, BUT! And herein lies the hook. God told Samuel to give them a sober warning.

One may not believe in God or the Bible, if you don't that's ok, all I ask to look at the ancient wisdom.

"But the thing was displeasing in the sight of Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” And Samuel prayed to the Lord. The Lord said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them. Like all the deeds which they have done since the day that I brought them up from Egypt even to this day—in that they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. Now then, listen to their voice; however, -- you shall solemnly warn them and tell them of the procedure of the king who will reign over them.--” So Samuel spoke all the words of the Lord to the people who had asked of him a king. He said,

“This will be the procedure of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and place them for himself in his chariots and among his horsemen and they will run before his chariots. He will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and of fifties, and some to do his plowing and to reap his harvest and to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will also take your daughters for perfumers and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and your vineyards and your olive groves and give them to his servants. He will take a tenth of your seed and of your vineyards and give to his officers and to his servants. He will also take your male servants and your female servants and your best young men and your donkeys and use them for his work. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his servants. Then you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”

Nevertheless, the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel, and they said, “No, but there shall be a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.” Now after Samuel had heard all the words of the people, he repeated them in the Lord’s hearing. The Lord said to Samuel, “Listen to their voice and appoint them a king.”  1 Sam 8

And so they got a king who taxed them, conscripted their young men, lead them into failed wars, any of this sound familiar? It's the nature of government! Only now, no longer are we getting a king appointed by God through His Prophets but we've gone so far as to selecting our own "king", renaming the position to "President".  And so each cycle we lament how we are over taxed, our youth are sent off to wars we had no desire to be involved in and so on.

People, nothing has changed, we failed! The Great Experiment failed and clearly demonstrates mankind is completely incapable of ruling itself. Man was never meant to rule over other men. But that lesson is never learned, never taken to heart and the people lament and once again cry out for some kind of a deliverance. The problem is mankind always looks for another of our corruptible, dishonest species as if we just didn't try the right person. Electing this man or woman in or out or dealing with the UN may be a good thing as a short term fix, we have to learn we cannot rely on any man (or woman) or government, to be the solution to the problems we as a nation face. There is only one way to ensure such a change in direction.

"If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My Face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sins and will heal their land" 2 Chron. 7:14

Please note, it is not saying "all the people" or "all the sinners" but refers to "My people who are called by My Name", He's calling on all believers to also turn away from those things which have separated us and our land (nation) from Him.
At the time this was written, statistics claimed 85% of this country believes in God yet NO ONE stands up for Him and His Word and teachings. The churches are filled with "feel good " and "success" driven theologies. Seek first the Kingdom of God and ALL these things will be added.  Your ways are not My ways, return to Me and I will return to you.

Maybe then we could get back the king who was rejected, the one who walked humbly among the common man and didn't set Himself up as some grandiose individual who needs dozens of body guards, mansions, payoffs, "donors" who want a quid pro quo for their donations.
